I would like to take this opportunity to wish you the best for the upcoming new year. A gentle reminder to renew your AATILI membership for 2012. As in the past, we rely on membership money to plan workshops, poetry contests and cultural events. Your generous contribution allows us also to grant monetary awards to outstanding graduating student, at the Dante Award Scholarship Luncheon.

Our upcoming events are:

-Second AATI LI Professional Meeting at Plainedge High School- Friday, Feb. 3, 2012 /4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

- AATI LI 28th Annual Poetry Contest at SUNY College at Old Westbury, March 23, 2012/ 9:30 a.m.- 1:00 p.m.


-Third AATI LI Professional Meeting, Plainedge H.S., No. Massapequa, April 20, 2012/ 4:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m.


- Dante Award & Scholarship Luncheon & Pompei Restaurant, West Hempstead, NY - May 19th.

First Workshop to Motivate and to Retain Learners

Workshop for Teachers of Italian: Save the Date: October 4, 2011


Date Tuesday, October 4, 2011, 9:00 am- 3:30 pm

Location Location: Center for Italian Studies, State University of New York,
Stony Brook.

Focus Current issues in teaching Italian and the need to develop innovative
strategies for present and future learners.

Program Morning - Expert teachers will share their theoretical knowledge and
practical expertise.

Afternoon- Participants will have an opportunity to collaborate in
developing new activities and to connect with colleagues.

Fee Free of charge to all participants.


All teachers of Italian and Administrators are encouraged to attend.

Coffee and light refreshments will be served.
