 MORABITO SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION 2011

Dear Colleagues,

Our Dante Award and Scholarship Luncheon is one of AATI's most enjoyable events and this year's event was no exception.
Prof. Alfio Russo, our Dante Award honoree, was touched by the friendship and collegiality he felt in our midst. Prof. Russo will soon return to Italy after directing the Education Office at the Consulate of Italy in New York for the past six years.
We congratulate our three scholarship winners and their teachers:

Katherine Treubig, Commack High School
Teacher: Grace Silva
    AATI Long Island Scholarship

Jane Furey, Garden City High School
Teacher: Lea Brunetti
    AATI Long Island Scholarship

Michelle Dimino, Mepham High School
Teacher: Rosa Manzo
Giovanna Morabito Memorial Scholarship

Each winner received a monetary award of $500 and a beautiful keepsake certificate. In addition, our colleague, Nicholas La Bianca, presented each student with one of his books
and also distributed copies to each guest in attendance.

The competition was particularly intense this year and the Scholarship Committee deliberated at length before coming to a decision. I would like to sincerely thank the committee co-chairs, Josephine Maietta and Linda Stack, along with the other committee members, Jacqueline Jill-Rito and Paolo Sabatino, for their dedication and professionalism in this endeavor.

Thanks to Nicholas Maurantonio for taking many beautiful pictures and to Annamaria Monaco, our webmaster, for posting the photos in the Photo Gallery on our website, AATILI.org.

Wishing you memorable moments of summer fun and relaxation! See you in September!

Cordiali saluti,

Isabella
