Itinerario per il viaggio in Sicilia durante la vacanza pasquale.
Il Programma prevede:
* Letteratura, arte, folklore e cucina.
* C'e' anche la possibilita' di uno spettacolo teatrale ad Agrigento o a Taormina.
* Nella settimana santa ci saranno manifestazioni religiose tipiche delle tradizioni meridionali e spagnole.
* I menu' saranno tipicamente siciliani e ci sara' la possibilita' di visitare luoghi di produzione alimentare locale.

Infiniti auguri alla nostra cara collega, Kerri Titone per aver ricevuto "Teacher of the Year Award" dalla NIAF. Kerri insegna al liceo di Northport, NY ed e' associata all'AATI e all'AATI di Long Island.

Mastrobuono Education Luncheon Friday morning, Patricia Harrison and Matthew DiDomenico Sr., who also chairs NIAF's scholarship and grants committee, presented NIAF's eighth annual Teacher of the Year Award to Kerri Titone, Italian teacher of five years at Northport High School in Northport, N.Y., and member of the American Association of Teachers of Italian and the Long Island Language Teachers. "

Cari amici e soci dell'AATILI,

L'approcio del periodo festivo ci ricorda i vari riti che fanno parte delle nostre tradizioni italoamericane. Thanksgiving e, poco dopo, Natale e Capodanno riuniscono famiglie ed amici, ricordando tempi felici trascorsi coi nostri cari.

L'annuale festa natalizia avra' luogo a Jericho H.S., venerdi',2 dicembre alle 19:00. Spero che sarete presenti a questo lieto evento in compagnia di colleghi e amici.

Se volete che i vostri studenti partecipino all'Esame d'Italiano AATI, sara' necessario abbonarvi all'AATI national ed iscrivere gli alunni entro il 5 dicembre, 2011. L'esame e' stato recentemente rinnovato per facilitare la preparazione dell'esame AP in italiano.

FLACS Meeting in Happaugue

Foreign Language Coordinator and AATILI President, Aurora O'Brien, and former AATILI President, Isabella Cosentino, rec attended a FLACS Meeting (Foreign Language Association of Chairpersons and Supervisors) on Jan. 14, in Hauppauge. The purpose of the meeting was to receive an update on the future of Foreign Language Studies. Members of the panel included, Regent Tilles, NYS Regent, John H. FLanagan, New York State Senator, Dr. Antonio Benetti: Cultural Director of the Italian Consulate in New York City, Spencer Ross: President of National Institute for World Trade, Dr. Sarah Jourdain: Director of Foreign Language Pedagogy, Stony Brook University, Dr. Carmen Klohe, Assistant Prof. of Spanish, St. John's University.

Dear colleagues and friends,

I'm very proud to annou
nce that this evening, at 6:00 p.m. at the office of
the Italian Consulate in New York, a signing ceremony and agreement took
place for the reinstatement of the AP Italian Language and Culture.
Attending the ceremony were President of the College Board, Gaston Coperton,
Under-Secretary of Foreign Affairs, On. Vincenzo Scotti and Italian
Ambassador Giulio Terzi.

The AP Italian Language and Culture course and exam will be reinstated in
Fall 2011, with the first AP Exam to be
administered in May 2012.

Josephine Maietta and I attended the official ceremony and participated in
the celebration of  this happy event.
