Dear Colleagues and Friends:

We began the 2004-05 academic year with the Seventh Annual Breakfast meeting sponsored by CSJ/OSIA and AATI at Hofstra University on Sunday, September 19, 2004 in conjunction with the Italian Experience Festival, celebrating Italy’s gifts of culture, education and commerce to America.  Now it gives me great pleasure to invite you to our first professional meeting.

This is indeed an exciting time for teachers of Italian!  After a sustained and concerted effort, AP Italian has finally become a reality!  We know that many of you are anxious to become equipped to take on this new challenge of preparing students for the AP exam (available on June 2006).  Therefore, the Executive Board and the Advisory Council are pleased to invite you to hear Dr. Irene Marchegiani speak about AP Italian on Friday, October 22, 2004 at J. Irving Baylis Elementary School, 580 Woodbury Road, Plainview ( Syosset School District) commencing at 7:00PM.

At this meeting, we also invite you to participate in “The Ultimate Swap-Shop: Something for Everyone.” Let’s share some creative ideas with the goal of supporting and motivating each other to be the best that we can be!  Whether you are a new teacher, a veteran or even a retiree, you all have tried-and –true techniques that are worth sharing, together, with your help, we can make a difference. L’Unione fa la Forza! The successful struggle for Italian AP shows that an indomitable, collaborative spirit can make miracles.  Let’s keep the momentum going.  March with us at the Columbus Day Parade on October 11, and join us on the 22nd.  Bring a friend and receive a gift.

Refreshments will be served.  Please RSVP to Isabella Cosentino at Isbelle @aol.com so that we can prepare accordingly.

AATI LI is also pleased to announce the new website, www.aatili.org.  Special thanks go to our webmaster Annamaria Monaco-Hernandez for a job well done.  If you have any suggestions for additional information to be posted on the website, please let us know.

I am honored to serve as your AATI LI President, and I am delighted to work with such outstanding and dedicated individuals who have the power to inspire change and make a true difference in our commitment.

Please join in our exciting journey.
